Personal Project

In 2024, I challenged myself to host a monthly game night for my friends. In addition to classic board games, we played a custom trivia game modeled after the BBC’s quiz show Only Connect. I wrote a vast majority of the questions myself, and I also decided to create a look and feel for the game night slides. I was drawn to the color palette and flat, paper-cutout look of this stock illustration from Macrovector. I decided to use those elements to create title cards for each game we played, with a quirky, angular typeface to match the illustration style. I also drew inspiration from 1960s title sequences like Bewitched or Saul Bass films. Over the course of the year, these game nights became my favorite creative outlet and I loved building out animations, invitations, and score cards each month.

Feel free to check out a few of my Only Connect questions below! The goal is to find a connection that all four words share before the answer is revealed at the bottom of the slide. The earlier you can identify the connection, the more points you earn. There are three rounds: word clues, song clues, and picture clues. Good luck, and happy puzzling!
